Oakham Town Council Invites Residents to Annual Remembrance Silence


Oakham Town Council is warmly inviting all local residents to gather for the traditional Remembrance Day two-minute silence.


The solemn act of reflection will take place at the Oakham War Memorial, situated in the All Saints Churchyard, on Sunday, 8th November at 11:00 AM.

Rutland County Remembrance Day Service 2026 Rutland Invites Community to Gather


As the nation prepares to honour those who have served and sacrificed, the Royal British Legion has announced details for the upcoming County Remembrance Day Service in Oakham.


Hosted by the Chairman and committee of the Royal British Legion, alongside the Oakham Team Ministry, the service provides an important opportunity for the community to unite in reflection, remembrance, and gratitude.

Uppingham Annual Remembrance Sunday Service Honour and Reflection


On Sunday, 8th November 2026, the community of Uppingham will gather for its Annual Service of Remembrance, coming together to honour the service and sacrifice of the fallen.


Hosted at the historic St Peter & St Paul Parish Church, the morning offers a solemn and traditional programme of reflection for residents, visitors, and community members alike.

Programme Highlights


Annual Service: The morning begins with a service of remembrance inside the parish church.


Two-Minute Silence & Wreath Laying: Following the service, the congregation and community will move to the town's war memorial for the national two-minute silence and traditional wreath-laying ceremony.


Support the Poppy Appeal: A collection will be held during the event in aid of the Royal British Legion (RBL) Poppy Appeal.

Rutland County Council and Royal British Legion Invite Community to Armistice Day Service at Oakham Castle 11th November

Rutland County Council and the Royal British Legion have issued an invitation for the community to gather and mark Armistice Day.   

​

The Service of Dedication will be held on Wednesday, 11th November 2026, in the grounds of Oakham Castle.

Hosts: Cllr Andrew Brown JP (Chairman of Rutland County Council) and Mr Ian Reynolds DL (Chairman of the Royal British Legion, Oakham Branch)

Parking Notice: Because the event takes place outdoors within the castle grounds, no parking is permitted on-site.   As tradition dictates, the community will pause at the eleventh hour on the eleventh day of the eleventh month to remember all those who have made the ultimate sacrifice.

Rutland Festival of Remembrance Concert A Moving Evening of Music and Reflection

As November approaches, Rutland is preparing to come together for a powerful evening of community, gratitude, and remembrance. The Rutland Festival of Remembrance Concert will take place on Friday, 6th November 2026, offering a fitting tribute to all who have served or are currently serving in HM Forces.

Hosted by His Majesty's Lord-Lieutenant, the event promises a rich programme of performances blending local talent with renowned regional acts.

Music for Remembrance An Evening of Reflection at Uppingham School Chapel

As autumn deepens and the nation pauses to reflect on the sacrifices of the past, Uppingham School prepares to host a poignant and moving event. On Sunday, 8 November 2026, at 19:00, the magnificent School Chapel will open its doors for Music for Remembrance, an evening dedicated to contemplation, community, and remembrance.

Set against the breathtaking architectural backdrop of the Chapel, Uppingham’s finest student and staff musicians will lead a carefully curated programme. Blending evocative choral and instrumental music with thoughtful readings, the evening promises to offer a deeply atmospheric space for stillness and shared reflection.
