Rutland and Stamford Water Update, Network Recharging After Major Burst Main Repair Alternative Bottled Water Collection Point Now Open
Anglian Water engineering teams worked tirelessly through the night to successfully repair a significant burst water main affecting over 11,500 homes throughout Stamford and the east of Rutland.
The local distribution network is now actively recharging, and water supplies are starting to return to normal. Service levels are projected to continue improving throughout the morning as overall system pressure stabilises.
The widespread loss of water caused notable disruptions across the region yesterday, resulting in the temporary closure of local adult learning colleges. Additionally, evening performances had to be cancelled at both the Stamford Corn Exchange and the Stamford Arts Centre.
However, following the overnight repairs and successful network recovery, all Stamford-area schools are open this morning as water supplies have been safely restored. Most households are expected to see full service resumed during this morning's stabilisation window.
Roads are very busy in and out of Stamford as residents visit the water collection point.
Bottled Water Collection Points
For any residents still experiencing low water pressure or a temporary lack of water, Anglian Water has established and restocked additional bottled water collection points to support the community:
Normanton Car Park, Rutland Water, Edith Weston, Oakham, LE15 8HD
Morrisons Supermarket Car Park, Uffington Road, Stamford, PE9 2FT
Both hubs opened from 6:00 AM today, with staff on-site to assist residents.
Note: As supplies return, some households may notice temporary cloudiness or discolouration caused by trapped air bubbles. This is entirely normal after a network interruption and can be cleared by running your cold kitchen tap for a few minutes.
